Terror in Jalingo as dinking bar is bombed

Just some days after the slaying of 40 people in Adamawa state by yet to be identified gunmen, terrorists have struck in the nearby Taraba state, letting off a bomb at a drinking joint. One person was confirmed dead and 11 others injured, following the blast at the drinking joint in Jalingo,Taraba late on Thursday. The explosion occurred at Dorowa Ward off Barde Way in Jalingo at about 7.40 p.m. The Police Public Relations Officer of the Taraba State Police Command, Mr Amos Olaoye, confirmed the incident but said he was not fully briefed on the details. At the Federal Medical Centre, Jalingo, a Medical Officer, Dr Umaru Yakubu, disclosed that one person was confirmed dead while three others whose conditions he described as critical, were rushed to the theatre of the hospital. He said that eight others whose injuries were mild were receiving treatment at the accident and emergency ward of the hospital. Dorowa is a popular drinking joint in Jalingo where both the local brew, “Burkutu” and “Ogogoro” as well as other assorted alcoholic drinks are sold. It was not clear yet whether the bomb was planted by militants of the Boko Haram sect. A few months ago, there was a bomb attack on the convoy of the police commissioner in the state.
